We want to make every kid a Safe Kid! Safe Kids Delaware is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization established in 1989, dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injury, the number one cause of death and disability in our most precious resource, our children. Our members are volunteers from a variety of organizations including State and County agencies, hospitals, the Fire Service, EMS, Parks and Recreation, and more.

Each year injuries kill more children than disease, kidnapping and drugs combined. But these tragedies don't have to happen. The important thing to remember about preventable injuries is that they are preventable. Our goal is to raise awareness of the current preventable injury issues in Delaware, educate individuals in vital injury prevention strategies, and motivate them to participate in our vision for an injury-free life for all children.

Our focus is on childhood injury prevention for children ages birth - 14. Safe Kids Delaware provides a variety of child safety educational events, programming and activities for children and their parents as well as professionals. We educate families and communities on the following topics: fire safety (burns, smoke detectors), traffic safety (car seats, pedestrian, bicycle, seat belt), water safety, playground safety, medication/poison prevention, consumer product safety, gun safety and sports safety. So take a look at all we have to offer, and reach out to us if you'd like more information on one of our safety areas, or to join us as we work to make Delaware's children - safe kids!

The race benefits Safe Kids Kent County and is being held at W.T. Chipman Middle School, 101 West Center Street, Harrington, DE. Come join us for a day of fun. Car seats keep your child safe, right? Not always. Sometimes car seats can fail if not taken care of or disposed of properly when they have experienced too much wear, reached their expiration date, or been involved in a car crash. Every year Safe Kids Worldwide sponsors the Walk This Way event, that teaches kids about pedestrian safety. Each year at our annual Safe Kids Days, many vendors are on site to talk about safety. May is Bike Safety Month
